Black History - Shirley Chisholm

A friend of mine asked how come I hadn't done any more Black History (Month) sketches. Hadn't thought about it after the Frederick Douglass sketch, so, here we have today's sketch of the day.....

The great Shirley Chisholm (November 30, 1924 – January 1, 2005). Educator. Author. Politician. Matter of fact, the FIRST Black woman elected to United States Congress. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to immigrant parents, she would go on to represent New York's 12th Congressional District for seven terms (1969-1983). She also ran for President of the US in 1972, becoming the first major party Black candidate, as well as the first woman ever to run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination

R.I.P. Maurice White

...if my life were made to a movie, there would be quite a few songs on the track listing by Earth, Wind and Fire. They provided the background music to almost all Saturday morning house cleaning sessions. "Boogie Wonderland" and "September" always had a way of getting my sister and I turnt up and acting the fool, even now. Thank you, Maurice White for your voice, for your music, rest well good sir, hopefully in Boogie Wonderland

Black History - Frederick Douglass

Happy Black History Month Year!!! On this first day of February, 2016, we have Frederick Douglass (b. Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, February 1818 - February 20, 1895)

After getting an assignment in 7th grade to read Narrative of the Live of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, he became one of my favorite Black heroes.

Introducing, RedJeff....

This is a sketch based on my NYE with friends, and their friend "Red Jeff".

 

He wasn't present, but after asking why he's called Red Jeff, it was explained that he has red hair. But, I was under the impression they knew two Jeffs, and 'red' is what differentiated them. NOPE. Just a name because of his red hair...anyway, the more they kept saying his name, the more I thought of him as a possible character from Game of Thrones....
