My 1st Drink & Draw

Went to my first Drink & Draw event last night. It was super fun. Met a few artists/animators, had a few drinks, and well...I drew. These would've been posted last night, but I was in the City with cell battery less than 18% (good job, me).

It was also a duo meet up. The awesome Women in Comics were there. If you aren't aware of what they are doing, then get familiar! Also, in honor of Women's History Month, they are hosting various events throughout the month of March. Including Saturday, March 12, 2016

Here are few sketches & scribbles from last night:
model pose sketches
couple more model post

I also did a few other sketches while I was there. The big afro woman was a young lady that was in the City last night I saw on my walk to the bar. She had this mighty afro, and I have yet to see an afro I wouldn't draw!!

NOT the Gorton's Fisherman....

BSing around, and drew the NON-Gorton's Fisherman....I'll call him LeRoy Gordon, and as he suggests, you should get your own fish..

afroblue

I've been listening to a lot of Robert Glasper and The Robert Glasper Experiment lately. The sketch was done while on hold with PSEG the other day. figured I'd doodle while on what felt like an infinite hold (27 minutes to be exact). I had played Afro Blue from Black Radio - The Remix EP a few times while waiting. Erykah Badu on vocals, with Phonte dropping a nice 16 bars, is a great combination.

Later decided to take the idea from the doodle and see what I could do with it in Photoshop, and voila!!
It reminds me of a 70s AfroSheen ad to be honest. But anyway, if you're looking for some good music, check out Robert Glasper, his music is pretty good!!

Setting up to...

...consistently sketch, draw, doodle more often!!  Fortunately I've been able to put myself in a position to no longer commute to work and do some things from home...like draw and be creative...so like I said in my last post, I've been blowing the dust off some old drawings and sketchbooks and giving ye old scanner a workout.

The pictures above only partially display how I felt commuting to and from Long Island everyday....No pencils, pens or Sharpies were harmed in the creative images shown above.  The same cannot be said for the work paper!
